The Richard Mille RM 67-02 Mutaz Barshim represents the close relationship between high-performance watchmaking and professional athletics. Richard Mille developed the RM 67-02 as the sporting version of the RM 67-01, redesigning its architecture to emphasize lightness, ergonomics, flexibility, and athletic performance.

The concept of the Barshim edition originated after Richard Mille met Qatari high-jump champion Mutaz Essa Barshim at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. According to Richard Mille, Barshim wanted a watch that was extremely light, flexible, and very thin so that it would not distract him during his jumps.

Designed for Elite Athletics

The Richard Mille RM 67-02 Mutaz Barshim was developed with the physical demands of high jump in mind. Barshim’s discipline requires precise timing, controlled movement, and an efficient approach to the bar. Richard Mille therefore focused on creating a watch that could feel natural on the wrist while maintaining sophisticated mechanical functionality.

This athlete-focused approach is one of the defining characteristics of the RM 67-02 collection, which includes watches created in association with several Richard Mille sporting partners.

Ultra-Light 32g Construction

One of the most impressive characteristics of the Richard Mille RM 67-02 Mutaz Barshim is its exceptionally low weight. Richard Mille states that the RM 67-02 weighs only 32 grams, achieved through a combination of TPT® composite materials, grade 5 titanium, and an elastic wristband.

The lightweight architecture supports the model’s athletic concept and helps minimize the watch’s presence on the wrist during movement.

Extra-Flat CRMA7 Skeleton Movement

Inside the RM 67-02 is the CRMA7 skeletonised automatic-winding movement, displaying hours and minutes. Its open-work construction reveals the mechanical architecture and contributes to the highly technical appearance of the watch.

The movement measures approximately 28.40 × 31.25 mm and has a thickness of only 4.00 mm. It contains 25 jewels and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 Hz.

Approximately 50-Hour Power Reserve

The Richard Mille RM 67-02 Mutaz Barshim uses an automatic winding system with an approximately 50-hour power reserve, ±10%. The movement incorporates a Carbon TPT® and white-gold rotor with the OneWay® winding system and ceramic ball bearings.

This combination allows the movement to remain compact while providing the functionality expected from a modern automatic sports watch.

TPT® Composite Case

The RM 67-02 case is constructed using Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT® materials. Richard Mille produces these composites from layers of aligned fibres, creating the distinctive technical appearance associated with TPT® watches.

The case construction contributes to the model’s low weight while supporting the robust and contemporary character expected from a high-performance sports watch.

Mutaz Essa Barshim Edition

The RM 67-02 Mutaz Barshim has a particularly strong connection to elite high jump. Richard Mille describes Barshim as one of the world’s leading high-jump athletes and explains that the RM 67-02 concept was developed following their meeting at the 2016 Olympics.

Elastic Comfort Strap
